Clash Royale Golem

Summary

“ Slow but durable, only attacks buildings. When destroyed, explosively splits into two Golemites and deals area damage!”

The  Golem is are unlocked from Arena 3 (Barbarian Barrel). The Golem is a powerful melee unit that targets buildings and upon death, he deals area damage around him that disperses and knocks back defending units. He also splits into two Golemites who continue to tank for supporting units.

Strategies for using Golem

The Golem can be very easy to counter on its own. However, due to the nature of Golem decks, you will rarely see a Golem with little support. Therefore, it can be very hard to counter the death ball formed by Golem players. Here are some tips for countering the Golem.

The key to winning in a Golem matchup is preventing your opponent from forming the dreaded  Golem pushes. It is important to realize that Golem players are typically willing to sacrifice their tower health to gain an elixir advantage. You need to be careful with making small pushes because Golem players will go ahead and ignore them or invest little defense. This can give them a huge elixir advantage that they can capitalize on.

When it comes time to actually counter Golem, it is crucial not to panic. Although countering a well supported Golem is difficult, doing so properly can lead to a big advantage for you. If they place the Golem alone or in the back, you can pressure the other lane to prevent them from being able to build up a big push. This makes it much easier to defend, but cannot be depended on since your opponent might ignore it or place down little defense.

If your opponent does manage to form a large push, it is crucial to address the Golem itself, and also the support units. Obviously, defending a building is your best bet. The optimal placement is four tiles away from the river, and three tiles away from your tower. However, this placement will not attract the support units, so you will have to address them separately. Taking care of these can sometimes be the hardest part. Heavy spells are effective, but a tank and spank combo also works well. PEKKA can also be used on them if you have another way of taking care of the Golem.
