Ice Spirit is unlocked from Frozen Peak. It is a one elixir card that jumps onto multiple units dealing with minimal damage and freezing them for 1 second, but it does die in the process. It is one of the most useful cards in the game and has an incredible amount of uses.

Strategies for using Ice Spirit

The Ice Spirit has many uses. Because of this, it fits in lots of decks and has been a staple for a while since it’s released.  When it came out, it was one of the best cards in the game, but it has received 3 nerfs in the lifetime that have brought it to the state it is now.

Ice Spirit serves multiple purposes:

1. To Cycle
   • Ice spirit’s low cost means it can be used frequently
   • It can be played in the back without being punished
   • It can do chip damage
2. As a Tank
   • Even though it has low health, Ice Spirit can be a tank for cards like goblin barrel
     • The freeze effect allows the Goblins to get in a ton of extra damage
     • Play the Goblin Barrel first since it has a large travel time
3. As a Support for Pushes
   • Combined with a troop like Hog Rider, the Ice Spirit can add to the potency of the push for just 1 elixir
   • The freeze effect lets heavy hitting troops get in an extra hit
4. As a Reset
   • The freeze mechanic resets a unit’s attack, making it very effective against high damage, one-shot cards like Sparky
   • It will also stop all charge mechanics from cards like Prince
5. To Kite
   • The Ice Spirit can kite units very well
   • Use the Ice Spirit to distract, and a ranged unit to stop many cards
6. Chip
   • Ice Spirit can reach the tower and deal around 100 damage
   • Although minimal, it can add up throughout the match or force a response if their tower is low

The Ice Spirit is a very useful card that can be used in a variety of ways. By using the Ice Spirit in a variety of ways throughout your matches you can generate lots of value from such a cheap card.

You will typically find Ice Sprit in decks that need to cycle or stall units. It can also be found in decks that need to cut their average cost.

Replacements

Ice Spirit is a pretty unique card and isn’t typically replaced by Fire Spirits, (even with similar names) but can be in a pinch. Zap or snowball plays a similar role to Ice Spirit since they both delay units for cheap or can be used as a cycle card. Skeletons can also be used as a replacement since cycles too, but lots of decks that play Ice Spirit play skeletons too.
