Summary
“ The Miner can burrow his way underground and appear anywhere in the Arena. It’s not magic, it’s a shovel.”
The Miner is unlocked from Arena 4 (PEKKAS Playhouse). The Miner is a melee attacker that has the unique ability to travel to anywhere in the Arena to pop up and start attacking.
Strategies for using Miner
Miner is consistently regarded as one of the best Legendary cards. It has the ability to deal consistent damage to crown towers, which makes it the feature of cycle decks; but also be a mini-tank for high damage cards, notably Balloon.
Here are some important tips to use the Miner:
- Mixing up your placements is crucial for using the Miner. If you are able to catch your opponent by surprise when using the Miner, you can avoid single target troops like the Knight.
- You can use the Miner to eliminate glass cannons that are placed in the back. The Princess is the Miner’s number one target, along with the Dart Goblin.
- If you are the Princess player, you want to protect your Princess with swarms. This will deny your opponent and give your Princess future protection.
- To prevent this, you can couple your Miner with Arrows or Zap.
- If you are the Princess player, you want to protect your Princess with swarms. This will deny your opponent and give your Princess future protection.
- You need to be extremely careful of the Tornado. It can pull the Miner to the King Tower and activate it early. You can place your Miner is the Tornado safety position. (In the front, at the farthest tile to the left/right from the King Tower.) If your opponent is able to activate their King Tower early you will have a hard time getting damage from it later in the game.
- Don’t hesitate to use the Miner defensively. He does full damage against troops and can be a great last-minute card.
The Miner is the most effective when it is paired with other cards.
- Swarms (Goblins, Bats, Minions, and the Dart Goblin) are extremely effective when paired with the Miner. If they connect to the tower, they can do insane amounts of damage. This strategy can be countered very easily, so it is important not to rely on it.
- Pairing the Balloon with the Miner is a high-damaging combo that is the feature of many decks. By having the Miner tank for the Balloon, unless your opponent has strong air-targeting cards, it will connect and do huge damage.
- Other high damaging cards (Battle Ram, Hog Rider, Three Musketeers) can also combo well with the Miner. The Miner can tank for them while the other card does massive damage.
- Make sure that you place the Miner before the other troop reaches the tower. Having the tower hit the unit first and not the Miner can be devastating.
The Miner can also be used to take down buildings, notably the Elixir Collector. Using the Miner against the Elixir Collector is a move that can generate you a huge elixir advantage. Your opponent will probably look to defend their collector, so look out for any swarms that they place. The Miner can also be used to take care of spawners. Make sure to time your usage with when the units come out.
Miner Decks
Miner decks are typically ones filled with swarms that he can tank for. There are also specifically designed Miner Cycle decks that encourage cycling Miner- Poison combos. He can also be used in Lavahound decks to tank for the pups.

Matchups
The Miner can struggle if your opponent can easily counter him with swarms or single-target tanks like Knight. Also, the bait decks that feature Miner obviously struggle against decks with lots of small spells.
