Card Breakdown:

P.E.K.K.A. – With the highest damage per second of any troop in the game, and her recent buff, the P.E.K.K.A. is a powerhouse that your opponent can’t ignore. In this deck, she is part of your primary and secondary win conditions. Your first win condition is to get him to the tower which is made possible with the Bowler and Support cards. As your second win condition, he is a tank that is meant to distract your opponent while you build up a force that your opponent simply can’t defend against.

Bowler – With his recent reduction in Elixir cost, the Bowler is now even more usable in this Elixir heavy deck. The fact that he is as slow as you P.E.K.K.A. means that placing him close behind the P.E.K.K.A. will make it difficult for your opponent to drop swarm troops that are normally so effective at distracting the P.E.K.K.A.. The Bowler is also an amazing troop at defending so use him to do so if you are at an elixir disadvantage. If I’m in a pinch, I’ll place him behind my tower so he will defend without taking damage.

Lumberjack – I added this new strong card to the deck because he’s really good at defending against the Miner and Royal Giant, among other cards. If you don’t have him, you can definitely switch him out for the Mini P.E.K.K.A. but if you have him, I suggest using him because his death rage is a great way to make a P.E.K.K.A. push more successful. If you’re in a pinch, and need a tower quick, the Lumberjack can act as a pseudo-win condition for desperate times, but be warned that if you play the Lumberjack as your primary win condition, this deck will not work as well. The Lumberjack fills the role of support in this deck, so play him as such.

Miner – Now that the Miner takes 1 second to deploy, he is less of a win condition, and more of a utility card meaning that you should use him multiple different ways. Use him to take out Elixir Pumps, defending Princesses or Ice Wizards, or even to distract an Inferno Tower from locking onto your P.E.K.K.A.. In most of my miner decks, I try to only defend with him as a last-ditch effort. This is not the case in this deck. At 3 Elixir, the miner is your lowest cost defending troop, and you SHOULD use him on defense if you need to build up elixir. If you don’t have the miner, you can switch him out for Fireball, Poison, Arrows, or the Guards depending on your card levels, and which cards are most frequently being used at the moment.

Baby Dragon  – The Baby Dragon is essential in this deck because it is your primary defense against minions and the minion horde. The Baby Dragon is also a great secondary support troop to aid your P.E.K.K.A. if you don’t have a Bowler down, or in addition to the Bowler. Because the Baby Dragon is faster than the P.E.K.K.A. you will want to place the Baby Dragon far enough behind so that she will not be targeted by the tower. Although she is a pseudo-tank, the Baby Dragon is better used in this deck as a support troop.

Musketeer – The Musketeer has become increasingly more popular since the nerf to the princess because she’s so good at defending and supporting. The Musketeer paired with zap will make quick work of minions if you don’t have a Baby Dragon in your rotation. She’s also great with the Lumberjack if you need a quick tower. One thing I love about her, is that she has the range to defend a push on one lane and then walk down the other lane if you place her on the right spot.

Elixir Pump – You will want to do everything you can to protect your Pump. If your opponent has a Miner, be prepared at all times to answer it with your own Miner or the Lumberjack. Make sure that you position the Pump closer to your tower with the most health so that it is less likely to be Fireballed or Poisoned. Placing it between your king towers is a good option if your opponent is using the miner. If you are playing in a tournament, this card is critical when you’re facing tough opponents. If you’re facing someone that isn’t as tough, you could probably pull off a successful 3 crown victory without this card if you played your cards right. I’d recommend not risking it though.

Zap – Even with the reduction in its stun duration, Zap is still a powerful card and is useful in so many situations. I tried switching Zap our for Arrows but found that the utility it provides is just too much to pass up on. Use it to take out smaller troops that are good at distracting your P.E.K.K.A. or at defending against Cycle decks.

Matchup:

Giant Poison – One reason this deck is so good at climbing quickly in tournaments is because it is strong against the Giant Poison deck, one of the most popular right now. This is because you can use the P.E.K.K.A. to defend and then counterpush with an unstoppable force. This is done by placing the P.E.K.K.A. at the right time and place so that he meets the giant on your side of the field, and by placing a Bowler close behind him so that the Bowler damages the giant and clears your the giant’s supporting troops. Once your opponent’s push is successfully defended against, you can use your other troops to make your push even stronger. The majority of the time, you want to wait to play the P.E.K.K.A. until you are at a major Elixir advantage or until 2x Elixir. However, if your opponent tries to go for a Giant push early in the match, feel free to defend using the P.E.K.K.A. and a lot of the time, your opponent won’t be able to stop your counter-push, leading you to a 3 crown victory within the first 2 minutes (I’ve done this multiple times in my past 3 tournaments)

Tank Bowler – Playing against Giant Bowler, Golem Bowler, or other P.E.K.K.A. Bowler decks is similar to the Giant Poison combo. The one difference is that you want to distract your enemies Bowler with a Miner behind him so that his attack doesn’t do damage to the rest of your troops. If you don’t have the Miner available, a carefully placed Lumberjack will also do the trick.

Hog Cycle – The Bowler is the key to playing against these decks. In my YouTube video on this deck, you’ll see me defending against a Hog Rider paired up with Barbarians with this 5 Elixir card (That’s a 4 Elixir advantage!). When facing a Hog Cycle deck, I like to place the Bowler behind my tower so that he doesn’t take damage. By using your tower’s health as a resource, you’ll be able to comeback with a push that the Hog Cycle deck can’t defend against.

Hog Trifecta – This timeless deck isn’t too hard to play against as long as you’re careful about not putting all of your troops within a Poison Spell’s distance of each other. If you know that your opponent doesn’t have Poison in their rotation, feel free to bunch up your troops and the only option they’ll have to defend is a Valkyrie, who will do minimal damage if she has a P.E.K.K.A., Bowler, and Musketeer targeting her. Take a look at this page to read more about Hog Trifecta!

Royal Giant Royal Giant decks are difficult to play against with this deck because its unfavorable to place a P.E.K.K.A. close to the bridge to defend. This is unfavorable because it doesn’t give you enough time to build up a supporting group of troops before she crosses the bridge. Rather, you should defend with the Lumberjack and clear supporting troops with the Miner or Musketeer. Try to gain the Elixir advantage with pumps before making a big push when facing Royal Giant decks.

3 Musketeers – Another tough deck to face. Your best bet against the 3 Musketeers is a well placed Bowler. Zapping at the right moment can reduce the amount of damage that he takes, allowing for a counter-push

Inferno Tower – This defensive tower is mortal enemies with the P.E.K.K.A.! Luckily, this deck has a lot of ways to beat this tower down. A well-timed Miner can distract it for a good amount of time, and the Lumberjack going in before the P.E.K.K.A. will insure that your troops get a nice Rage boost. You can also place the Baby Dragon in the middle of the arena if your other options aren’t available. I’ve had the most success with a Zap and Miner combo.

Thanks for taking the time to read this detailed guide! I hope that you have found this P.E.K.K.A Bowler Deck helpful. Good luck! See you in the Arena!

Clash Royale Clan Chest – The New Crown Chest (Legendary Drop rate Updated)

519
Clash Royale Clan Chest

The new Clan Chest is a shared Crown Chest which the entire Clan can contribute Crowns to. It is very similar to the regular Crown Chest!

Clash Royale Clan Chest
Clash Royale Clan Chest

Clash Royale Clan Chest

To contribute the Clan Chest, you can only gain Crowns on ladder (normal matchmaking system), not on Challenges, Tournaments or Friendly Battles.

The crowns you earn on the ladder contribute to both your regular Crown Chest and the Clan Chest. For example, when you get 3 Crowns, they will be added to both chests.

Clan Chest Menu

★ ★ ★ January 13th Update ★ ★ ★

Supercell is changing the Clan Chest to a weekly 3-day event, starting from January 16th (Monday). Below are the major changes:

  1. The Clan chest event starts every Monday.
  2. It lasts for 3 days.
  3. It now needs 1600 Crowns to unlock the tier 10 Chest (of course you need to do this in 3 days instead of 7 days like before).

After 3 days, you can collect the Clan chest rewards. Clan Chest can be opened immediately without any cooldown.

You will be put on a cooldown period If you move to a new Clan during these three days. You will not earn any reward from the Clan Chest until the next week. In addition, when you are on the cooldown, your earned crowns don’t contribute to the Clan Chest.

So The best time to join the new Clan are Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

There are 10 tiers of chests. You need to collect 100 Crowns to unlock the first chest tier. After completing the first tier, you can unlock the second tier and so on.

There is a Chest Tab in each Clan. In this tab, you can see exactly who contributed and how much. If you contribute 0 crown, you will not receive any reward from the Clan Chest. However, If you contribute only 1 Crown (YES ONLY ONE), you will get the full contents of the Clan Chest earned by other members.

clan chest menu

Being in Arena 1 or Arena 10 does not affect the amount of cards you can get from the Clan Chest but it does limit what cards you can earn. For example, If you are in Arena 3, you can’t get Bowler from the Clan Chest. It takes 3250 crowns to unlock the final chest, which means If your Clan has 50 members, each member just has to get under 10 crowns per day, in 7 days.

Update 12/20/2016

Seems like a lot of clans have achieved the tier chest! This is such an insane speed guys! I can also see loads of players dropping from 4000 trophies down to 3000 to farm crowns.

The Definitive Guide to Counter Deck Archetypes and Meta Decks

47

Hey, Nitrome95 here coming at you guys with another guide (comment below if you want to see decks for a specific archetype).

I figured that since I taught you guys how to play different archetypes in this guide, I decided that I would talk about how to counter them. Even though decks vary from one to the other, countering the opponent’s playstyle is the same.

I will also cover how to counter very popular combos (such as Golem Graveyard). Keep in mind that I will assume that you will have all of the cards in the game (I also will offer substitutions).

The Definitive Guide to Counter Deck Archetypes

cycle deck

Cycle Deck

If you are using a cheap deck as well, good luck because it’s going to be likely a tiring match. You will just have to just defend and counter push constantly until one opponent out-chips the other. If you have a high damage spell, make sure to always use it on the tower when possible. It will be either a spell battle or whoever makes a mistake first.

If you’re using a heavy deck, this is where it gets really tricky. Your opponent will constantly be pushing you with low elixir cards, forcing you to defend and not be able to build up elixir. You have to defend with as little elixir as possible, probably taking tower damage.

For example, if your opponent sends a Hog Rider Goblin Barrel push, put a Bowler in the back. Don’t be afraid to take some damage, as you will make a big, overwhelming push in the end.

Please take a look at here to see the best Cycle Decks on Clash.World.

spell bait

Spell Bait

I can not stress this enough; only use your spells offensively! Unless it is an emergency, playing spells defensively is what your opponent wants you to do. They will slowly chip at your tower, and defend with swarmy troops easily. Especially if you have a big tank, save your Zap for the Inferno Tower that they will probably use. Once you save your spells for an offensive push, get good value out of them by hitting the horde troop and the Inferno Tower.

So you may be wondering how to defend against spell bait troops (Skeleton Army, Minion Horde, Goblin Barrel) without spells. Well, here’s a few tips that might help:

  1. A Valkyrie in front of the arena tower has enough range to hit 2 Goblins from the barrel at the same time.
  2. Ice Wizard and witch are not good against Skeleton Army and Minion Horde. They don’t do enough damage to one shot a Skeleton.
  3. A Bowler behind the tower can hit all three Goblins from a barrel with one shot.
  4. Ice Golem one shots Skeletons and severely weakens minions with its death damage.
  5. When placing an Ice Spirit to hit all of the Minion Horde, let the Ice Spirit tank one shot from the minion in the front, allowing all of the Minions to clump up near the Ice Spirit.
  6. Skeleton in the opposite lane kites Minion Horde.
  7. Tornado (I know it’s a spell but this trick is so cool) can drag the Miner and the Minion Horde together so that a splash unit can hit them all at once.
  8. (Only in the most extreme emergency) Golem’s death damage kills minions.
  9. Minions+Zap counters Minion Horde.
  10. Skeleton Army counters the Miner incoming, and goes on to severely weaken the enemy Skeleton Army.

Want to try some great spell decks? Here you go!

beatdown deck

Beatdown

If you are playing a cheap deck, you will want to pressure the other lane with a Hog Rider or something like that when your opponent plays a tank in the back. You will not want to commit too little, or else your opponent can just ignore the push or counter it for a positive elixir trade. On the other hand, you do not want to commit too much or else you will be punished severely. Your pressure should cost between 4-7 elixir, depending on how much elixir you have.

If you are playing a heavy deck, you have to overwhelm your opponent. Play tons of positive elixir trades so that when your opponent does a push, you can defend, and then counter push hard. Never play a tank in the back when your opponent plays a tank in the back; it’s too risky with not much reward.

Golem Graveyard

So why is this not a 3 crown strategy? Graveyard loses its capabilities with one 2 towers shooting. This is a tricky combo to play against; the Golem tanks all of the damage while Graveyard takes down all of the troops. The only counter that shuts down Graveyard in the meta is Archers (and maybe Goblins), but is shot down by fireball. If you pressure the other lane with a cheap combo, they will shut it down with a Mini P.E.K.K.A or Mega Minion.

Your best bet to countering this deck is to include tons of Graveyard counters. That is why Ice Golem Hog Rider became so popular; Ice Golem and Ice Spirit do an okay job against Graveyard, and Archers do an amazing job. With the Golem, you have to play your Mega Minion (Yeah, I know you probably have one in your deck) to take down the support troops, while having enough health to pound at the Golem. Apply cheap pressure often when their counters are out of rotation to win.

For more details, please read the Golem Graveyard guide on Clash.World!

Lava Hound

Another tricky beatdown deck to play against. Like I said before, use the mega minion! If If you haven’t unlocked it yet, Archers are also a good counter. You will want to kill all of the support troops, and then go in for an all out push on the other lane. Don’t even worry about the Lava Hound, if you defended correctly with the mega minion, the mega minion will go on to kill the lava pups with maybe the help of a Zap.

See the best Lava Hound decks at here!

Three Crowns

Use the same techniques as the beatdown archetype.

hut deck

Spawners

Easy. Once they put down their Barbarian Hut, go for an all out push. They will not have any elixir to defend your push.

Barbarian Hut 3 Musketeers

This is a hybrid spawner deck that is really hard to go against with its split lane capabilities. Never try to lightning the 3 Musketeers if they are placed near the Barbarian Hut because the lightning will just hit the barbarians and the hut. The only weakness is that this deck is slightly expensive, so constantly apply pressure to your opponent. If they go for a split lane push, decide how much elixir you should commit to defend each lane.

control deck

Control Decks

A very annoying deck to play against because of its defensive capabilities. However, there is a saving grace that not many players know about.

Wanna know the secret? It’s predicting your opponent’s next move. As a control deck player, the defense you set up for each push is about the same; defense building in the middle, with support killer in the back. The problem is that control deck players often do the same thing so much that they are extremely predictable.

Once you know your opponent’s defense, place a prediction spell where you think they will place their defending troops. Watch as they scramble helplessly while you take the W.

Ice Golem Hog Rider

If your opponent is very good, chances are that they will be able to successfully defend most of the pushes you send at them. That is why you have to commit a ton of elixir when they make a misplay. For example, say they misplace their cannon for your Giant. Immediately support your Giant as much as possible, and wait for the support troops for a reactive spell.

More: Supreme Hog Freeze Deck for Arena 8+

siege deck

Siege Decks

A rage inducing deck to lose to. Your opponent will constantly be trying to predict your next move, so you have to out-think them.

For example, say you defend their X-Bow with a Mega Minion. Your opponent will get ready with their own Mega Minion to counter it. If you know that they have a Mega Minion, you can think a step ahead of your opponent and instead, counter it with your Royal Giant.

Constantly mix up your defense to make sure your opponent can’t predict you. You have to really try to continually apply pressure. Once your opponent has their rhythm, it will be near impossible to stop them. It is much easier to beat siege once you got one of their towers down. You can use Zap to re-target the towers, and Royal Giant is the best counter to siege with its long range, defense targeting, and high health.

Rocket

The most rage infuriating deck to play against. If you are playing against a good Rocket player, they will find the perfect times to Rocket your tower when you have no elixir, and defend your pushes like it’s no big deal. If so, I have one tip; don’t try to win, just try not to lose. What I mean is that you shouldn’t be making risky plays on offense because your opponent’s defense will most likely be rock solid.

However, if you play well and gain positive Elixir trades, you can eventually overwhelm your opponent when they have no Elixir. The other way you could play against Rocket is to constantly apply pressure to the opponent so that they can’t Rocket. This will mostly end in a draw, but Rocket players are so uncommon that this isn’t a big deal.

Please visit this page to see the best Rocket Siege Decks on Clash Royale Arena!

Conclusion

A good way to practice these strategies is to find a good clan with members that play different archetypes. You can always friendly battle a deck you want, and you don’t risk any trophies. Just remember that you have to always switch up your playstyle against different decks. Other than that, good luck and clash on!

How to record Clash Royale screen on iOS with Mac

2

There are many ways to capture screen activities on a mobile device. Last time I shared with you two methods to get this done on an iPhone and iPad while playing Clash Royale. One is using the AirShou app (for non-jailbroken devices), the other is via Display Recorder (for jailbroken devices).

If you have chance to browse the discussion section, you’ll notice a comment made by “SkythekidRIS” about using the QuickTime technique. Yes, if you have a Mac, recording iOS device screens is quite convenient with QuickTime — the built-in media player on Mac OS X. It allows you to view, edit, and record audio and videos. Most Youtubers are now using this method to record the screen.

Thanks to JP from SoftwareHow, he contributed this detailed tutorial on how to use QuickTime to record iOS screen videos. For further reading, he also introduced three other awesome techniques on his blog.

How to Record Your iOS Device Screen using QuickTime Player on Mac

What you’ll need to prepare:

  • An iPhone or iPad with iOS 8 or later (sorry, Android bros)
  • A Macintosh computer with OS X Yosemite or El Capitan (soon macOS Sierra).
  • The built-in QuickTime Player utility.
  • A lightning cable that comes with your iPhone or iPad.

The step by step guide:

Step 1: Find the lightning cable and use it to connect your iOS device (iPhone or iPad) to a Mac. If you see this “Trust This Computer?” pop-up warning on your device screen, hit “Trust” to continue.

record-clash-royale-screen-1

Step 2: Open Launchpad, locate the QuickTime Player app in the “Others” folder. Alternatively, you can do a search in Spotlight to find the app. Click the app icon to open it.

record-clash-royale-screen-2

Step 3: A new window pops up, asking you to select a file to open. Leave it alone. This is for playing or editing an existing video or audio. Instead, select “File” in the menu. See Step 4.

record-clash-royale-screen-3

Step 4: In the menu, select File > New Movie Recording. Note: you should not select New Screen Recording. Don’t be fooled by the name.

record-clash-royale-screen-4

Step 5: Now it’s the magic moment. To record screens from your iOS device, you click that arrow down icon (next to the red circle button) and select your device under “Camera”. Here, you can also choose which Microphone to use during the recording process.

Step 6: Hit the red button to start recording. Now you can play the Clash Royale game as you want. Once you finish, click the gray button to stop recording. Next, save your video by clicking File > Save.

Strategy

Hi guys and gals Galbers Gaming here bringing to you a synopsis of the Elite Barbarians.

The Elite Barbarians are, using SuperCell’s words, “like regular Barbarians, only harder, better, faster and stronger”. On a one to one basis SuperCell ain’t wrong but Barbarians beat Elite Barbarians due to their superior numbers, for one less Elixir I may add.

The speed of the Elite Barbarians, very fast, reduces the reaction speed of the player trying to defend against them. A solid strategy which I show in my video is the Elite Barbarians coupled with the Miner.

Elite Barbarians although they don’t do as much damage as Barbarians, they still kill tanks very quickly and due to their speed they are very good in counter attack especially like I said above, when paired with the Miner.

Against Barbarians I like to drop Minions down which if timed right can take out all of them before reaching your tower. This strategy does not work against Elite Barbarians, their speed will carry them through to the tower where they will get a few hits off.

Be wary of dropping range units (or non spawning buildings) in the middle of the field to kite the Elite Barbarians, you will find that only one will go to the middle whereas the other will go straight for your tower and every shot he gets off is the equivalent damage to a fireball.

Something should also be said for dropping your Elite Barbarians down when your opponent drops down an expensive unit at the back like a Golem, Pekka or even a Lava Hound. Your opponent will have to respond to your attack stopping them getting their ideal push off.

In summary, Elite Barbarians are scary units if allowed to reach a tower. If attacking with them build up an Elixir advantage and push in with them or counter attack with the Miner. To defend against them, make sure you do not allow them to hit your tower. The Elite Barbarians is an expensive card at six Elixir so don’t be afraid of using the same amount to stop them but if you are on equal Elixir standing you should be able to relatively easily make a positive Elixir trade by distracting them.

Top Tip:  If you get yourself a Giant Chest, make sure you save it and open it once the card has been released – you’ll be almost guaranteed to get a whole bucket load of the Elite Barbarians helping you to level them up quicker than anyone else.

  • Tombstone, Barbarians, Archers, Skeleton Army, Musketeer are especially very good at dealing with Elite Barbarians.

Elite Barbarians – A First Look

Elite Barbarians are the new Clash Royale card due to be released in just over a week. They are going to be a mainly offensive card due to reduced defensive capabilities compared to normal barbarians but they should prove useful in both attack and defense if needs be.

Early estimations would place the Elite Barbarians at somewhere between the mini pekka and barbarians. Whilst there are only two elite barbs compared to the four barbarians, the extra strength and life will make a different against spells like the Fireball. But MOST crucially of all, the elite barbarians have very fast move speed, similar to that of the Lumberjack, so we can expect them to cause a lot of damage should they get to the enemy tower quick enough.

Below is a video giving a more in depth look at what the Elite Barbarians might be able to do and how they should be used:

So you can see that this card will mostly be used in offense. Let’s take a closer look at why this will be so by analysing the stats of the card.

What we are really interested in here is the tournament level stats, i.e. level 9 Elite Barbarians. There are several things to look at here. Firstly the DPS will be 155 (as opposed to the normal barbs 106). It’s important to distinguish between speed and hit speed. Whilst the Elite barbs have a very fast movement speed, their hit speed is still 1.5 seconds which is the same as barbarians. Thus, their DPS is only about 50% higher.

You can also see that their health is at 890 compared to the barbs 636 giving them a decent boost. What’s important to recognize here is that this means a Level 4 P.E.K.K.A will still take as many shots to kill the Elite barbarians as it would the normal barbarians as it would one shot a normal barbarians but take two shots to kill an Elite barbarian. Thus, in defense, these units will be useful.

However, ideally, unlike the barbarians which is one of the best defensive cards in the game, we won’t want to use the elite barbarians for defense. The reason for this is that firstly the card costs 6 elixir which is an awful lot to spend on a defensive play that can’t even do damage to air. But secondly, and this brings me on to the greatest perk of the elite barbarians, they have a very fast speed.

If you have ever seen the lumberjack charging at your base you’ll know just how fast “very fast” actually is. It’s dangerous. And with the amount of health the elite barbs are going to have, they will be able to get off some serious damage on enemy towers if not successfully stopped. This is where my comparison to the mini pekka comes in. While the mini pekka only has “fast” speed, the combined damage and life of two elite barbarians will make it roughly the same with the exception of being much more difficult to take down. You can expect to see this card being used in much the same way as a miner is used after a decoy has been set up and I wouldn’t be surprised if the elite barbarian will be capable of taking down entire towers by themselves.

The bad news…

The bad news is quite simply that this card costs a very hefty 6 elixir. The only other common card to cost that much is the Royale Giant – a card which is almost guaranteed to do damage to enemy tower. This means that the elite barbarians will HAVE to be used wisely – if you mess up with them, it will cost you dearly and your opponent will have a huge elixir advantage. So be careful how and where you deploy them. Best recommendations would be to use them when you know your opponent is low on elixir or if you’ve got enough cover on a push to make sure they get to the enemy tower.

The other slight bit of bad news for players further down the ladder is that you will need to be in Royal Arena to be eligible for this card so get climbing if you aren’t already there.

Hope you guys enjoyed this guide and are looking forward to all the new cards coming out as much as me – let me know your thoughts on the card itself and we’ll look forward to discussing it again after release.

Okay guys so what do you think about the Elite Barbarians? Will you use them once released? Hopefully there will be a 1000 card pack in the shop!

Clash Royale Chest Cycle – How The Chests Drop

37
Clash Royale Chest Cycle

Every single chest you get after the battle in game is based on the Clash Royale Chest Cycle. Because I have been receiving loads of questions relating to this topic lately, today, I am going to you the whole chest order in Clash Royale.

So many players suggested it was about 1% for Magical Chest, 25% for Gold Chest and 74% for Silver Chest. That’s a good theory but not how the game runs.

Clash Royale Chest Cycle

How do the Chests drop in Clash Royale? They are based on the Chest Cycle!

Basically there is a chest drop order (or chest cycle) in game. Every Chest that you get after the battle is based on this order.

When this cycle goes through, it will restart again.

By digging the game files, Asdamp has found the Clash Royale chest order list.

Small note:

  • You will always get 6 Wooden Chests at the beginning, during the Training Camp.
  • The chest cycle will stop If you don’t have any chest slot available.
  • This is the latest pattern, updated on 19th April 2017.

Frequently Asked Questions about Chest Cycle

What about the Legendary Chest?

Shared by iMix-

  • You have the chance to get this chest once you hit 2000 trophies.
  • Below Arena 9, you are guaranteed a Legendary Chest in every 2 periods (yes, the drop order/circle above).
  • In Arena 9, you are guaranteed a Legendary Ches in every chest period.

This chest randomly replaces a chest in the Clash Royale Chest Cycle.

If you bounce between Arenas, your Legendary chest drop rate is still one per 2 cycles. You need to stay in Arena 9 during the entire cycle to get one chest every cycle.

Read more about this at here.

How about the Super Magical Chest?

super magical chestOnce the Super Magical Chest (SMC) dropped, it will replace 1 chest in the chest drop cycle above.

The SMC doesn’t drop randomly. You get 1 SMC in every 500-chest drop.

For more details, please take a look at the Super Magical Chest page.

What If I don’t have any open chest slot?

Don’t worry, you won’t miss any chest. The chest drop cycle will pause If your chest slots are full.

This means, you can’t just simply do matches with fulfilled slots in order to get the Magical Chest or Giant Chest. You just can’t bypass the next chest in the cycle. You will always get it no matter what.

Track down the Clash Royale Chest Cycle with Chest Tracker App

I believe that a lot of people here have already heard about this app but I still want to mention this in this page because of how useful it is.

The good side of using this app is it’s a native app. Which means all you need to do is just to open it after installing to track down your Clash Royale chest cycle from scratch.

If you are new to Clash Rooyale, this is a review for you

Chest and Chest Cycle are not the best part of Clash Royale. There are a ton of more interesting stuffs!

The paradox in the mobile gaming platform is that a single blink of eye, and we have a new king defining the gaming industry. Nobody knew from where did flappy bird suddenly took over the entire internet. Sure, we all knew that Crossy road is fun to play and has good graphics, but there wasn’t a single cue of it becoming such a big hit. Who knew that candy crush saga, built on such a simple and age old gaming concept would take the world by storms and be equivalently stipulating to Bejeweled and its akin games.

Yes, Clash of clans was the definitive supreme commander in terms of raiding strategy genre but there still are few parallel gaming universe where you can get a good kick out of strategy based games. But Clash Royale is different. It stands alone and from the very first day of its launch, it was clear that Supercell had hit the bull’s eye this time. They were successful in figuring out some weird trick, some weird psychology link than countless other MOBAs and 1st person shooter game makers could not do. They succeeded in making a real time multiple player platform that was engaging multiple users and could make money without making someone feel unfair. Yes, you will end up spending tons of money on Clash Royale but then you will feel so contended by playing the game that you will have no qualms about spending your money. You will definitely enjoy the game no matter what. As simple as that.

If we dig deeper into this game Clash Royal, we will find that it is all about collecting cards by making some awesome real time strategy and is a MOBA. There is a deck of 8 cards and you have access to 4 cards at once. If you want to summon any other cards on the battlefield, then you need to use elixir, which is a time dependent rechargeable energy unit. Then, you have to move on and deploy your cards in a fashion that can attack the enemy’s crown towers in the best way possible which is arranged in dual lanes with the central king towers. Once you successfully destroy a crown tower, you can smash a king tower and once you successfully smash it completely, you win the game. The trick here is that you have to do all this in a short span of 3 minutes with the last minute giving the opportunity to have double elixir.

In multiplayer scenario, the player who destroys more crown towers gets to be the winner. In case there is a tie between two players in terms of blows to the crown towers, there’s a 1 minute lapse time or kind of overtime where the first person to land a hit and smash the tower- crown or king- wins. Of course, the king tower infers more damage to the battle units and hurt harder. The most clever ting about the game is that it is such a simple thing to learn to play it, and any simpleton or a beginner level player can get into the flow of the game quickly and play it smoothly. You simply drop units, which in turn follow their behaviors. No need of commands. Yes, the placement of troops is definitely important, but what aces the game is your skill to quickly contemplate the position of cards in your deck, the position with respect to your opponent and the elixir. Knowledge about the game seeps in when you feel comfortable in the gaming zone and before you realize, you are already joining a clan, experimenting with the available deck and getting sucked into its gaming universe. All this happens at such a lightening fast speed, that you don’t even know what happened and how did it happen. Plus the game only lasts for about 3-4 minutes, so it feels like so much is going on in such a short span of time and that you’ve achieved so much already. This very concept of short gaming period has given Clash Royale an edge over other battlefield multiplayer games because they just take too long. By limiting the number of cards in your deck, clash Royale has made sure that you are not being overwhelmed with any kind of information and there is no psychological overload or gaming barrier formed inside the heads of the player.

Yes, there are people who are concerned about the monitory aspect of the game where the Pay to win concept works. But I think this is simply overrated. There are multiple instances of real world hobby analogs where some people can spend little while rich people can obviously spend more money on their hobby. Turns out this isn’t considered unfair in our world. So why fuss over the same thing in a virtual world. If someone wants to play for fun and a little competitive feeling, then you can enjoy it and progress accordingly. You get 6 free Clash Royale Silver chests per day by merely logging into the account and claiming it and a free gold chest for claiming 10 crowns in a time period of 24 hours. You can see them all in the chest cycle Clash Royale mentioned above. That sounds pretty fair to me. Though there are timers set before you can actually open up a gold chest but earning more makes you competitive enough up to a certain degree. On top of that, the matchmaking process makes sure that you are set up against people of same levels which ensures a fair competition no matter what the situation be.

Yes you will need to spend more in order to climb up the stairs and win more, but even still the cases of card tweaking are on a high. And there might be hoards of stylish cards out there, but the simple cards still prove to be useful like arrows. Deck buildup and intelligence will still hold importance no matter what the scenario is and no matter how much you pay to reach up.

See? Chest Cycle is not the only thing bringing you happiness!

Hope you have found this small article helpful!

If you have any question about the chest cycle (or chest drop order) in Clash Royale, don’t hesitate to comment!

How to counter Elite Barbarians

2

After the huge buff a few days ago, Elite Barbarians has quickly became the new meta. Loads of players find it very hard to stop and counter them at the moment.

In this guide, I will show you some great and easy micromanagement, which will definitely give you lots of positive Elixir trades.

How to counter Elite Barbarians

How to counter Elite Barbarians with 3-positive Elixir trade

elite barbariansHere are some great ways to prevent Elite Barbarians from touching your Tower, with only 3 Elixir! Countering them with less than 3 Elixir is nearly impossible at the moment.

Skeleton Army: Skeleton Army can completely shut down lone Elite Barbarians. Although it is very weak to spell, If your opponent uses Zap to take out Skeleton Army, that would be a 8 Elixir push, you should take the advantage and defend with another card then counter push while the opponent is low on Elixir.

This is the best and safest counter to the Elite Barbarians when your opponent doesn’t have any spell or splash damaging card in his hand.

Tombstone

Another great use of this “legendary” defensive building.

Tombstone is excellent against Elite Barbarians If placed correctly. Just remember that it is vulnerable to The Log. Place it at the center, in front of your King’s Tower and everything will be fine!

Ice Spirit + Fire Spirits

Although most players don’t use these two cards in the same deck at the moment, I still want to mention this combo here because it is very good against Elite Barbarians.

Use the Fire Spirits first to lure Elite Barbarians to the center then use Ice Spirit to Freeze them.

This move is not easy to use, you need to practice a lot first before using them on the ladder.

Guards: Very effective with the shields.

How to counter Elite Barbarians with 2-positive Elixir trade

Valkyrie: She can’t solo kill them but with the help of the Crown Towers, she can take them out.

Ice Wizard + Ice Spirit: Very powerful when dealing with Elite Barbarians.

Ice Golem + Fire Spirits: Use Ice Golem to kite them first then throw the Fire Spirits at them.

Mega Minion + Ice Spirit: This defensive combo still lets Elite Barbarians have 1-2 hits on your Tower. It is not vulnerable to Arrows. Use it when you don’t have any better choice.

Minions + Ice Spirits: This combo is better than the Mega Minion + Ice Spirit combo above as Minions are faster and have better DPS. But, it is vulnerable to Arrows.

Bomber + Ice Spirit: Use this combo and lure them to the middle!

How to counter Elite Barbarians with 1-positive Elixir trade

The ones below are the best counters to Elite Barbarians as they are not vulnerable to most spells

Archers/Dart Goblin + Ice Golem: Place Ice Golem down to pull the Elite Barbarians to the center while Archers/Dart Goblin are hitting them.

Bowler: Bowler can easily kill Elite Barbarians without even meticulous placements. Just don’t place Bowler on them! Hands down this heavy guy is one of the best defensive troops in Clash Royale at the moment.

Valkyrie + Ice Spirit: This is obviously better than the lone Valkyrie.

Barbarians: Great defensive move against EB. Although not many will survive, you will be totally safe!

Bomb Tower: This underrated card can easily shut down the Elite Barbarians.

Inferno Tower: Place the Inferno Tower in the middle and everything will be fine! Just make sure your opponent doesn’t have either Zap or Lightning!

Tesla + Ice Spirits

Graveyard: Decent but most players don’t use Graveyard on defense.

Mega Minion + Fire Spirits or Minions + Fire Spirits: Works very well!

Tornado + Fire Spirits: Works well If you can use the Tornado to pull them to the middle.

Cannon + Fire Spirits: Works very well!

Fireball + Ice Spirit: Use the Ice Spirit to lure them to the middle then use Fireball on the,

Ice Wizard + Fire Spirits: Completely shuts down Elite Barbarians.

Prince: Works great. Use it only when you want to waste your Prince.

Equal Trades

The ones below are not recommended If you don’t have any better choice or If you are in emergency.

Rocket: This would be great If you can also damage the opponent’s Tower or any troops nearby. However, practice first before using this in the real battles as EB’s movement speed is very fast.

Lightning: The Lightning leaves EB at low HP and they still can harm your Tower. Use this If you don’t have any cheaper counter.

Elite Barbarians: Sure equal trade.

Fire Spirits + Dark Prince: Works great If you want to waste your Dark Prince.

Others: Fireball + The Log, Sparky, Knight + Minions, Witch + Ice Spirits, Musketeer + Fire Spirits and Mini P.E.K.K.A + Fire Spirits also work very well!

Clash Royale Ice Wizard – Basic Information and Advanced Tips

Ice Wizard is one of the first Legendary Cards and hands down one of the best cards in Clash Royale. We can see him almost everywhere above Arena 5. People love using him because of not only his special slow ability but also his awesome appearance.

Let’s take about the chill caster today!

Clash Royale Ice Wizard

Ultimate Guide to Ice Wizard

  • His special ability slows down the enemy movement speed and attack speed by 35%. This slow effect doesn’t stack.
  • He is pretty cool. LOL.

Strategy

Defensive Strategy

I was extremely lucky enough to get the Ice Wizard on the day it was released so I have had a decent amount of time to find the best uses for him!

The Ice Wizard is primarily defensive troop. I have broken down the best ways to use him on defense below. I am also going to show you how to use him situationally, instead of against some specific decks before the meta always shifts pretty fast.

Defending Large Pushes:

Large pushes usually use a tank such as Golem, Giant or Royal Giant in front of supports to soak damage, protecting the support troops behind. While dealing with this deck archetype, separating the supports and the tank is extremely important!

Defending against Giant

I will use the Giant + Musketeer + Minions push for example. While dealing with this push, I usually use the Inferno Tower to separate Giant and Musketeer, I also use Ice Wizard to distract the Minions from my placed Inferno Tower.

defense with ice wizard 1

Then, I use the Ice Spirit to stop the Musketeer from damaging the Inferno Tower.

Defending against Golem

While dealing with Golem Witch beatdown deck, I usually use only Ice Wizard and Inferno Tower to shut down this push entirely. First, I use the Inferno Tower to pull the Golem to the opposite lane, allowing me to deal with the Minion Horde a lot easier!

defense with ice wizard 2

Then, I use the Ice Wizard and Zap to take out Minion Horde. After taking out the horde, Witch shouldn’t be a big deal at all.

Defending against small pushes

When defending against small pushes, the opponents usually use fast paced cards like Mini P.E.K.K.A, Hog Rider or Lumberjack. Using Ice wizard can be super useful to slow the entire push, making it a lot easier to counter.

Although it may be a negative Elixir trade when using the Ice Wizard + a defensive building/troop to deal with a small push, you can use them all for the counterpush afterward!

Defending against Hog Rider

Yea this is probably one of the most popular pushes in Clash Royale. Hog Rider pushes are usually pretty cheap, which can catch you off guard. Using Ice Wizard can slow down Hog pushes and stop the supports from dealing tons of damage to your building.

For example, I use Ice Wizard to distract the Mega Minion from hitting the Inferno Tower

defense with ice wizard 3

I also use Inferno Tower to directly counter the Hog and distract the low damage Archers behind. After taking out the Mega Minion, Ice Wizard starts hitting the Archers, allowing me to make a great counterpush with the survived Ice Wizard.

Defending against fast attacks

Dealing with small and fast attacks can be very hard sometimes because you don’t know what you should play for a while. Using the Ice Wizard in those situations can slow them down a bit, giving you more time to defend better.

For example, my opponent places the Miner to protect the Minion Horde coming towards my Tower. I use Ice Wizard + Zap to distract and then kill the Minion Horde. Then, I use the Lumberjack to take the Miner out.

defense with ice wizard 4

This would be a bit expensive but it allows me to build up a big counterpush which could take out the opponent’s Tower entirely.

Please note that these are just plain examples of some familiar situations and how to use the Ice Wizard in those. You can use these strategies to deal with all deck archetypes.

Use Ice Wizard as a distraction

Because of the Ice Wizard’s cheap cost and his special ability, he can be great at distracting the opposing troops from dealing damage. He is also very useful even when you have expensive cards in your hands or no cheap defensive card.

Using him to pull opponent’s troops to the kill zone, where both of your Towers can lock on to them can be very useful. I am going to show you how to pull units with the Ice Wizard.

You can use Ice Wizard to pull these cards

All of the cards above should be pulled by your Ice Wizard. However If you are in a bad situation, using him to pull other units would still work! Just wouldn’t be effective as the ones above.

How to Distract

In order to deal with very fast or fast units, you will want to place your Ice Wizard like below when the unit is crossing the bridge:

In order to deal with slow or medium units, place your Ice Wizard like below:

Counter Pushing with the Ice Wizard

The Ice Wizard is very valuable in making counterpushes after your opponent’s attacks. He slows down the enemies, giving you more time to strengthen your push

  1. To counterpush with him, place him anywhere behind or next to your Tower, as long as he is able to hit the opponent’s troops.
  2. Place other medium cost troops down, which has good attacking capabilities.
  3. After defending successfully, make sure you have enough troops on the field to perform the counterpush. Place your tank or win condition in front of the survived troops.

Baiting with Ice Wizard

Please note that you shouldn’t use this technique as a win condition in your deck since not every deck has Fireball.

The Ice Wizard can be so good at baiting out your opponent’s Fireball. However, I strongly believe that it is not that good at baiting out other spells because it’s not valuable enough for expensive spells and other spell spells can’t take him out!

  1. If your opponent has Fireball and you have Barbarians, Minion Horde and Ice Wizard in your deck, it is very effective to bait out his Fireball.
  2. Make sure that your opponent has the Fireball in his hand! Place your Ice Wizard behind your King’s Tower on the side of your more weakened Tower.
  3. He will most likely Fireball your Ice Wizard and the weakened Tower. You are now free to aggressively use your Minion Horde and Barbarians on offense. However, If he doesn’t use the Fireball, don’t try to do this again, your opponent is a smartass.

Unfortunately, this is the only way you can use the Ice Wizard to bait out spell, I believe.

Counters

It is fairly easy to counter the Ice Wizard, unless he is protected by other troop. Truly he is not the type of unit you want to protect because he is literally a support card and does a little damage.

Anyway If you want to protect the Ice Wizard, place him in a hard to reach position, fairly far behind your tank/Tower.

Below is the list of cards which can take out the Ice Wizard without taking much damage:

  • Barbarians
  • Mini P.E.K.K.A
  • Valkyrie
  • Knight
  • Mega Minion

    • Wizard
    • Musketeer
    • Lumberjack

    • Elite Barbarians

Knight and Mega Minion should be the best counters because they cost only 3 Elixir.

The second best counters to the Ice Wizard should be Mini P.E.K.K.A, Valkyrie and Lumberjack. Although they cost 1 more Elixir but they are the better options for counterpush.

Swarm units, high cost cards and buildings are really bard at countering the Ice Wizard!

Popular Decks containing Ice Wizards

Because the Ice Wizard is one of the most versatile troops in Clash Royale, he fits into nearly any deck due to his useful ability. Below are some popular decks which utilize the Ice Wizard a lot!

  • Hog Cycle Decks: This kind of deck usually focuses on getting the Hog Rider

    • to the opponent’s Tower to do chip damage. Cheap supports are used to get positive Elixir trades and to

cycle through the deck

    • quickly. It relies on the Ice Wizard a lot to shutdown opponent’s pushes.

In-depth Guide on Reading Your Opponent’s Moves

24

Hey, Nitrome95 back for another guide and as a slight disclaimer, no, this is not about reading words on your opponent; it’s about predicting your opponent’s next move. Often times in lower arenas (I see this in every area though) where the two opponents just defend each other pushes the same way and attack the same way unsuccessfully.

The result is an extremely boring match that ends with either direct damage or a draw. What you need to do is to predict your opponent’s next move. This technique, if used correctly, will allow you to boost your trophies tremendously. With not predicting to predicting my opponent to attempting to predict my opponent, I would go from the 3100-3300 range to the 3600-3800 range. Reading your opponent truly separates good players from great players. These tips will also come with examples so that you can get a feel for how to apply these in game.

Reading Your Opponent's Moves in Clash Royale

Basic and Advanced Tips on Reading your Opponent’s Moves

How to Begin to Predict

Before we get to how to read your opponent, I will share a tip that you must follow or else everything you will have to have a clear mind. This means that you should not be raged at someone beating you and you must have a quiet place. Reading your opponent takes thinking during the heat of a battle, so any distractions will prevent this from happening.

1. Knowing Your Opponent’s Cards

At the beginning of the game, you enter into a blind battle with an opponent that you have no idea. Which style of deck or their skill level is unknown to you. That is why to predict your opponent’s next move, you need to know what card they will probably play in that move.<

There are two things that you can do to know your opponent’s cards:

  1. Keep a mental note of what cards your opponent plays (or a physical note). Begin to take a note also of the role of each of your opponent’s cards.
  2. You can make earlier predictions if you can keep up with the metagame (the decks that are most commonly used in your current trophy level.

Let me expand on the second bullet point. Since I’m not very aware of the meta for anything lower than Arena 8, I will give an example for someone playing in Frozen Peak. Let’s say your opponent drops an aggressive Ice Golem Hog Rider combo. You counter with Cannon and Fire Spirits. Instantly, you could draw the conclusion from the popular decks currently, that the opponent’s deck will probably go somewhat like this:

  1. Hog Rider
  2. Ice Golem
  3. Tombstone
  4. Fireball
  5. Zap or Log
  6. Archers
  7. Mega Minion
  8. Ice Spirit

With knowing this, I can use my knowledge from others who have played this deck to take down the opponent. Another thing to note is that the two cards you revealed, fire spirits and cannon, can fit into so many deck styles that your opponent will still not know what deck you are running. Of course, every player is different, but knowing so much from maybe the first 10 seconds is already a leg up on your opponent.

Another type of card prediction comes with card rotations. If you didn’t already know what card rotation or cycle is, it is the random order in which your cards will be available to be placed again. In other words, if your opponent places down Barbarians, he or she will have to place down 4 more cards to be able to place down Barbarians again.

Let’s apply this to a practical situation.

For example, you are playing a spell bait deck, where your goal is to use troops vulnerable to spells (Skeleton Army, Minion Horde, Goblin Barrel) when your opponent doesn’t have any spells. You send out a Goblin Barrel, and assuming that you already know what your opponent is playing, they use their only spell, Zap. You immediately punish them with a Minion Horde Miner combo, and you know that since the Witch is their only answer to air splash, your get your Zap ready to stun the Witch long enough to allow the Minions to shred through her. They have no other answer to your push, giving you an easy tower for only 10 elixir (13 if you count the Goblin Barrel). They spend 7 Elixir, so you trade 5 Elixir for a tower; Not bad!

Here’s another situation using the same concept in a different way.

You know that your opponent shuts down your Hog Rider Ice Golem push with the Cannon and Ice Wizard, so since you see your opponent play those two cards in the same exact place every time, you can predict your enemy. The next time you send in you Hog Ice Golem, get your Fireball ready where it will hit the Ice Wizard and the Inferno Tower. Time it so that it will land when your opponent places down their cards, they will be instantly be obliterated, giving you 1500 tower damage.

2. Knowing Your Opponent’s Elixir

You might be wondering, “Almighty Nitrome, can u somehow see your opponent’s Elixir bar?” And no I can’t, but all good players have a good feel for what your opponent’s Elixir is (which is why you need a clear mind to focus). You don’t know exactly how much elixir they have, but you want to know if you have more or less elixir than your opponent, and how large is the Elixir gap.

For instance, a popular aggressive attack in arena 5 (when I was there) was to plant a Wizard with Barbarians. This is a horrible mistake as you can shut down the push with a single push. The enemy’s attack cost 9 elixir, while your defense cost 4. So by the time you defend, you will have about 7 elixir and your opponent will have about 2. With that 7 elixir, you can send in a Hog Rider Goblin push. Since your opponent’s only counter to your Hog Rider was Barbarians, they will be forced to place down their other counter, Goblins. You knew that, so you hovered your Zap over the tower to surprise your opponent with quickly dead Goblins.

Of course it is impossible to keep track of it at all times, but here’s a general rule of thumb: Push your opponent if they are low on Elixir. Use your prediction techniques to predict their counters based on the amount of elixir they have.

3. Predicting While on Defense

So far, I have written only about reading your opponent while on the offense. Now, I will cover two types of defensive predicting:

  1. What your opponent will play
  2. Card Placement

This seems a bit familiar to the offense, but it is applied differently in defense.

The first type of prediction is the easier of the two. What you will want to do is identify the type of push your opponent wants to create, and keep cards in your hand to counter it. For example, you will want to keep a fireball in your hand if your opponent plays three musketeers.

The second type of defensive prediction is a bit more complicated.

Miner Placements

miner placements

The green shows the optimal places where your opponent should plant their Miner, the yellow is a place where the opponent might play as a mix up. The red is where your opponent will almost never.

This means several things:

  1. Your opponent’s first Miner placement will be in one of the green spots.
  2. If they are smart (depending on your trophy level), they will switch between the optimal spots, then go for a mix up spot once you think you know the know your pattern.

So when trying to predict your opponent’s Miner placement, keep in mind these two rules. Believe me, you will get more correct Miner guesses. (Note: The bottom right corner of the tower is the safest place to put a ranged unit to target the Miner unless they place their miner there.)

Cannon/Inferno Placement Against Hog Rider

These two are the most popular reactive defenses (tombstone is not reactive). When playing these defenses, there are two things to keep in mind when selecting placement.

  1. Do you have a good amount of time to react?
  2. Did they pig push? (push the hog to the wall to bypass buildings in the optimal spot)
  3. Do you have to mix up your placement?
  4. Do you have troops to counter their support troops?

If you answered “yes” to 2 or 3, or “no” to 1 or 4, then you can’t place in the optimal areas. Choose a less optimal spot that is effective. I will use a similar chart to the Miner placement.

cannon placements

Keep in mind that this is if your opponent is pushing the right lane. With Inferno placement, you can get away with less optimal placement with its insane DPS and HP.

Conclusion

This may seem a lot to think about in the heat of the match, but even the best players don’t think though all of this in their heads. They play so many matches that they have the instinct to predict all of these things. So, like I said in my previous guide, practice these techniques. I guarantee you it will take your skill level to a whole different level.

PS: Since I’ve covered all of these different prediction techniques, make sure to make your play unpredictable so that your opponent can not read you easily.
